From the sacred pages of the Hebrew Bible emerges a character imbued with superlative strength and unparalleled audacity – Nimrod. His story unfolds in the book of Genesis where he is described as a “mighty warrior on the earth”, and “a mighty hunter before the Lord”. But one thing is missing from Nimrod’s story–its end.
Unlike other biblical figures who’s genealogy and lifespan are recorded, Nimrod’s is not. Readers can’t tell how or when Nimrod died. Did he die in battle or in bed?
This bold man was known far and wide across the face of the whole earth. The grandson of Ham – one of Noah’s three sons who survived The Great Flood, Nimrod rose to power with ambitions for earthly and divine power. He forged an empire with Babylon at its heart – often referred to as ‘the gate of God’.
He raised great cities rose from clay tablets to formidable fortresses – Erech, Akkad, Calneh were but a few among them. His rule marked an era where mankind rallied under one leader – one vision; akin to Jesus Christ uniting humanity under God’s word, but lacking a key factor, humility toward God himself. Nimrod’s empire also spoke one language, presumably the language of the sons of Noah.....
